Biography
I began training in psychodynamic counselling in 2000 then changed to psychotherapy training in 2003. I am currently preparing my final papers for a UKCP recognised, professional Diploma and Masters in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy. In 2004-8, I worked at Cotswold Counselling in Cirencester offering shorter-term psychotherapy to clients and in 2005 began my private practice in Cirencester.
My Humanistic and Integrative approach to psychotherapy is based on respecting the uniqueness and value of each individual. In my practice, I provide a warm and supportive context where you can talk freely and in confidence about your difficulties without fear of judgment or being told what to do. Perhaps you feel something ‘isn’t quite right’ in your life at present, or you may have a specific difficulty, for example, depression, anxiety, stress, a relationship break-up, bereavement, family or work-issues. Whatever your reasons for seeking help, we will work together to help you gain a clearer understanding of yourself, your personal qualities and your current difficulties.
My interest in psychological therapies began 15 years ago, teaching experiential outdoor education to groups with learning and behavioural difficulties . I am a psychology graduate and have additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and ‘Mindfulness-based’ approaches for working with depression. In addition to my private practice, I currently work as a group facilitator for the NHS Psychological Therapies Service in Gloucestershire.
£25 is charged for an ‘initial session’ to explore whether psychotherapy feels right for you at this time. A fee for future sessions is then agreed between us.
